This shawl has been made by artisans in Kutch, Gujarat, India. This region of India has a wealth of traditional, textile methods and different communities who settled here generations ago.
The Rabari communities are shepherds and traditionally they provided wool for the Vankar (weavers) community. This cloth was used for turbans, shawls and blankets. The local wool is called Desi and is slightly course, but will soften over time.The hand wrapped tassles compliment the overall aesthetic of this wonderful example of handloom textiles from kutch.
